Welcome to South Canoe, a K-8 Outdoor Learning Program in the beautiful North Okanagan-Shuswap! At South Canoe, we believe that thoughtful and active learning outdoors in a supportive community allows us to connect and relate to others and to the natural world. Following the BC Curriculum, through nature’s lens, we value:

- a balanced academic program; inquiry based learning; problem solving, play & story
- exploring, trying, failing, reflecting and bravely trying something new
- finding balance and discovering the interconnectedness of nature
This is my third year as principal at South Canoe and I remain fully committed to fostering an environment that promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and a sense of community and caring among students, families and staff alike. I am dedicated to ensuring a safe and inclusive school, where each of our students can thrive, discover their passions and nurture gratitude, resilience, compassion and confidence.
Our highly professional, dedicated and skilled team of educators at South Canoe work hard to ensure that the social, emotional, physical and mental health of our students is supported through high quality learning experiences and caring guidance of the adult team. We work collaboratively and with open communication to ensure that all needs are met and all voices are heard. Our wonderful Parent Advisory Council (PAC), parent volunteers, and the local community all contribute to the success of the school and play a role in the positive experiences of our students.
We thank you for trusting us with your child(ren) and for supporting our efforts to make South Canoe such an incredible place to be! I encourage you to take an active role in your child’s school experience and educational journey.
