This year, South Canoe recognized Orange Shirt Day with a whole school assembly, followed by a “window walk” in which our students and staff took time to view the many beautiful stained-glass displays created this week to honor Truth and Reconciliation. We also heard student presenters who shared poems and their thoughts about Orange Shirt Day. Then, on Thursday, our division 6 and division 7 students traveled by bus to the Kamloops Residential School for a guided tour. We are so proud of everyone who attended, as by all accounts our students were respectful, contemplative and kind.
